Anthropos Books invites manuscripts based on Anthropological writings on human cultures, societies, and behaviors, and Social Science writings having certain key characteristics:

  • Ethnographic details with detailed descriptions of people's lives, practices, and beliefs, based on fieldwork and participant observation.
  • Cultural relativity, which aim to understand cultures on their own terms, avoiding ethnocentrism and highlighting the internal logic of different cultural practices.
  • Interdisciplinary approach having integrated methods and theories from various disciplines, including sociology, history, linguistics, and biology.
  • Authors should reflect (Reflexivity) on their own role and impact on the research, acknowledging their biases and the subjectivity of their observations.
  • Applying diverse theoretical perspectives to analyse cultural phenomena, such as structuralism, functionalism, symbolic anthropology and post-modern theories.
  • Manuscripts with thick description, i.e. in-depth and contextualized description of social actions and their meanings.

These elements help anthropological writing to provide a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of human diversity.

Anthropos Books will be particularly interested in publishing books, which provide cultural immersion, dive deep into various cultures, often portraying everyday life, rituals, and traditions in vivid detail. It should have compelling ethnographic narratives based on fieldwork, sharing stories of real people and their experiences, which can be both educational and entertaining. The books with  having historical context, thematic exploration, cross-cultural comparisons, theoretical insights, reflexive accounts and critical perspectives.
