WORKSHOP : STUDYING CHILD ABUSE AND THE METHODOLOGICAL CHALLENGES

The study is largely qualitative in nature and would like to analyse all forms of abuse related to children by doing intensive fieldwork in two study sites in each state-one rural and one slum in a town in the states of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. We anthropologists largely apply anthropological methods and tools, an attempt was made  to understand the processes in the experiences of child abuse by studying concepts of socialisation, parenting, agency of children, child’s freedom and expression, local culture of child rearing and gender equality.

This Workshop was instrumental in honing the various methods and techniques for conducting this research. We would like to thank all the experts, academicians and students who participated in workshop. We at Anthropos hope that this workshop was beneficial to all those who participated as it was for us.
